Obama’s chief of staff, was on TV discussing the difficulty with the health care package. He said that one of the largest blocs against it were seniors who were terrified of losing what was already working for them.

I am a senior, Jeri is a senior, there are a few other seniors I am aware of on this blog site whom I respect and who do not strike me as nitwits. A lot of seniors are speaking up at these Town Hall meetings, railing against big government and "socialist" programs and they do not realize that their Medicare is a government program. their social security is a government program. Do they think God sends the money? Yes, I know they paid into it but we get back much more than what we paid.

The rest of the country doesn’t seem to get it. I am disgusted that I am in an age range where I am lumped with these people.

Something happens to a lot of people as they age. At some point, whatever smarts they had go south and they turn into whimpering idiots. It could be a kind of middle-range senility where the obvious symptoms do not present but where rational thought is never again visited.

Everything is fine so long as family loves me, might be the key here. Well, everything is not fine. Get your brain back. Start thinking and stop getting hysterical when anything new is suggested.

I think the sedentary life, lack of consistent physical activity, may be a key factor in intellectual decline as one ages. I'll say more about this in another post some time.
