40 Things You Probably Don't Want to Know About Me

1. Do you like blue cheese dressing?
Yes, the real thing, but I don’t order it a lot because it is so caloric.

2. Have you ever smoked cigarettes?
I smoked from the age of 16 to 27 and gave it up when C. Everett Coop, the surgeon general came out with his cancer report. I remember thinking, with my luck, I’ll get something.

3. Do you own a gun?
I briefly owned a 16-gauge Browning automatic shotgun when I thought I wanted to go hunting with my sis and b.i.l. But neither Tula nor I could kill anything and I sold it.

4. What's your favorite drink at specialty coffee shop?
Regular coffee. When I want dessert, I’ll order pie.

5. What do you think of hot dogs?
I utterly love hot dogs. I don’t indulge often, though.

6. Favorite Christmas movie?
It’s A Wonderful Life.

7. What do you prefer to drink in the morning?
Coffee, every time.

8. Can you do push ups?
I’m glad this came up because I’ve been distracted lately. For a while I was doing 15 every morning and now I plan to get back to that. At some point I’ll post a photo of my arms. Got to brag somewhere.

9. What's your favorite piece of jewelry?
My engagement ring.

10. Favorite hobbies:
Classical piano study (I did do some Rag Time a while back), I used to draw and always plan to get back to it, walking and biking and mini ballet routines because I am not strong enough to do a whole class anymore, and writing and blogging.

11. Do you have ADD?
I am a person of the moment, but I always get back to what I started. However, when I am talking to someone I am totally focused and I was pleasantly surprised to learn, when I had a piano student a while back, that the hour was over in a minute because I concentrated on the student so intensely.

12. What's one trait that you hate about yourself?
Performance anxiety.

13. Middle name?
None. I am m.i. deprived.

You expect me to dip into the Heironymous Bosch of my cortex and tell you only 3 things? Get real.

15. 3 things I drink the most.
Daily: coffee, water, wine. Actually, I am not that thrilled with the water part.

16. Current worry right now?
How to get Ed to stop smoking.

17. Current hate(s) right now?
I would change this question to "dislikes". People who don’t respond when you greet them. (This is a “hello” kind of island. The visitors can be very elitist.) Otherwise, I try not to hate anything. It doesn't change things and is draining.

18. Favorite place to be?
Manhattan

19. How did you ring in the New Year?
I try to stay up for the TV showing of the ball dropping in Times Square, mainly so I can see Times Square. (sob) I don’t always make it.

20. Like to Travel?
It’s a hassle but I like to be in different places and, lately, would rather drive than fly. Having cats has kept us home. Their well-being trumps all.

22. Do you own slippers?
I own some knit booties my Mom made for me but I don’t wear them. I use socks.

23. What color shirt are you wearing?
Peach-colored tank top but I have to change it because Chewy “did” on it.

24. Could you ever make it 39 days on the show Survivor?
I despise all reality shows.

25. What songs do you sing in the shower?
I don’t anymore. My once okay voice is gone through non-vocalizing.

Alexis, Stephanie, Dana, Teal.

28. What's in your pocket right now?
I have no pockets. I tuck tissue and my iPod into my bra.

29. Last thing that made you laugh?
Brunswick, who decided to play “catch me” this morning when it was time for his medication.

30. Worst injury you've ever had?
Torn knees from ballet work, also a pinched nerve in my neck (bad landing in class). Still working that one out 35 years later.

31. Do you love where you live?
I love the beauty of the house and water and the wildlife, but I miss New York.

32. How many TVs do you have in your house?
Three, but we only ever watch the one in the family room.

33. Who is your loudest friend?
I don’t, like Nitti, have any loud friends.

34. Does anyone have a crush on you?
Yes, a fellow who lives on the island. But he’s too chicken s… to do anything about it. That’s fine with me.

35. What is your favorite candy?
Lady Godiva chocolate truffles. Also, Milky Ways.

36. Favorite Sports Team?
I no longer follow team sports, but early on, in NY, I was an enthusiastic Mets fan, and Knicks fan.

37. What were you doing 12 AM last night?
Winding down with the TV and a tedious book I decided not to finish.

38. What was the first thing you thought of when you woke up today?
It’s raining! I jumped up, opened the garage door, and brought my bike in.

39. What is your favorite Holiday?
Halloween.

40. What are your plans for tomorrow?
I rarely make plans. It’s a life-long omission and, also, I don’t like to hear God laugh. A therapist once asked me where I "wanted to be in 5 years." I answered, "Not dead."
