Something to Think About

Today I received the news that one of my former students, two days ago on her 21st birthday, died in a car accident. It was sobering. Her parents lives will forever be changed and Christmas will never be the same. Tomorrow evening I will go to her funeral and say an official goodbye. She was on her way to getting a degree. Her whole life lay ahead of her. She might have married, had children, or chosen whatever life she wanted, but it was cut short, a candle blown out in the wind. Her light burned so brightly for a short time. She was a vivacious teenager, outgoing and a sweetheart. She traveled to Denver Colorado with us. She was a joy to be around. She will be missed. If you think of it, pray or send good thoughts toward her parents and family. My heart aches for their loss and the world's loss. A bright light has gone out and the world just seems a little darker.

When we are young we believe we are invincible, that we have a lifetime ahead of us. But life is fleeting, and each time I hear about someone who has passed to soon I thank God that he has allowed me to be here for the time I have. I am sorry for your loss

I feel for you so much and the family of the lovely lady you talk about! It is sobering, sobering to all feelings and realness you can imagine. My children's Uncle James died in the same way 10 yrs ago this month, he was 17.

Fifteen years ago I witnessed a head-on collision on the bridge across from my house. One minute, people were going for pizza; the next minute, 6 of them were dead. If anything good can come from a tragedy it's the message to live to the fullest in the present.
