Tater Salad

I'm gonna stop writing for today after this one, before by butt bones start to ache.

I was thinking of that potato salad I made yesterday. I like my potato salad better than anyone elses.' While the russet potatoes that have been peeled and diced are simmering in salted water, the eggs-- and I like a lot of hard boiled eggs in my tater salad--are simmering in another pot.

Meanwhile I get the bowl ready: Miracle Whip, a heaping tbsp. of French's yellow mustard, lots of sweet pickle relish, a couple of tbsp. of juice from a jar of bread and butter pickles, two or three finely diced green onions go in the bowl. Then the drained potatoes and chopped up hard boiled eggs go in, all gets mixed up, and eat it warm.

I also like my own chicken and dumplings better that anyone elses.'
Well thinking of food reminds me it's time to eat. Bye y'all.susil

Tasty! Funny, I think of potato salad as a summer treat. Never thought about eating it warm. What a great idea!

Yum! A couple years ago I posted about Garrison Keillor's rant to the tune of what's wrong with these people who buy made-up potato salad at the supermarket when it's so easy to make at home and so much better tasting.

Sometimes I buy a container of potato salad from the Walmart deli, but the potatoes never seemed thoroughly cooked or soft enough.

I think we all like our own potato salad best. I even like crumbled crisp
bacon in mine.

Oh oh girl--now you've started an idea--next time I make it, it's gonna have bacon in it!

I might try your recipe. Is mayo, light, okay? I don't keep bread and butter pickles -- how about sour? I mostly buy red potatoes but I can try russet if you think it makes a difference. I made changes to one of jon dude's recipes, using what I had, and he laughed and said it wasn't the same. Oh, foo. Can't please everyone.

Dear teal, you can tweak any recipe to suit yourself, but I can't imagine potato salad without Miracle Whip and sweet pickle relish! Russet potatoes cook up softer than red potatoes, but what the heck--use what you have and see!
