Why Can't I Shut Up?

I decided a few days ago to subdue myself, zip my lip and blend in with the wallpaper so to speak. I catch myself saying opinionated things and telling people what they should do. Is there any wonder I have very few friends who'll put up with me? Even the ever patient Dottie is about fed up.
Last week I was on the phone to my beautiful precious grand daughter. The guy she's been dating for three years of her teenage life is a loser with a capital "L." This guy is 21 years old and has trouble keeping a job at a grocery store for Pete's sake. He looks like a weasel, and when G'baby went on Facebook, found out he'd been contacting other girls asking for their phone number. My advice said loudly and ofen was "Kick Him To The Curb," etc. Well, now they've made up after he did some serious a*s kissing, and it's all hunky dory again. My advice ignored.

Okay, then yesterday I went to the local general store to buy an extension cord, and as I pulled up, a strong smell of burning hair came from under the hood of the car. I asked a young guy having some work done on his truck to look under the hood and see what was happening. He was so sweet; he found a charred still smoking cricket on the engine block and said that's what it was. One cricket to make such a smell? I doubt it, but anyway.

So then he goes and holds the door open for me and asked could he help with anything else. I jokingly said "I'll have to take you home with me." So he starts talking to the proprietor about getting a ticket while having a revoked license (DUI.) He said he had two tickets in his pocket. He's been traveling around the boonies using only backroads to keep from getting caught, but a traffic road block nailed him again. Dismayed, I felt words bubbling to the surface, and knew it was happening again--I was gonna throw out an opinion.

This is a young, good looking, healthy, smart seeming guy who works hard and makes decent money who's acting like an idiot. He says "I don't like people telling me what to do." An immature statement. I say no matter what you do or where you go, somebody is always gonna be telling you what to do. If you go to jail, if you go in the Army, when you go to work, SOMEBODY IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO. That's just how society works. There are rules and laws and you have to obey them. There ain't no big rock candy moubtain where you can sit on top and say "I'm gonna do as I please." You're not Rambo. Ted Turner owns millions of acres of land, but there are state and federal laws governing how he can use it. Neither Ted Turner and President Obama, the PRESIDENT can't do anything just because he wants to, he is bound by rules and regulations too.

I tell this guy, take those tickets and go where ever you have to go and pay them, take whatever classes you have to so you won't have to be sneaking around on back roads, so you can drive on the highway and be legal again. So this guy listened to me, and the proprietor says there's a bunch of these young guys you need to talk to. Me and my big mouth again. I've decided to he*l with being subdued, I might as well let 'er rip.

Alive, bitter and sneezing because I used a laundry dryer that had been used prior to me with an anti-static tissue. Those things are very very allergenic. My CA allergist told me that they are the single most allergenic product used by humans. UGH. (Sneezes again for the 17th time in a row.)

Choices and rules are pretty much what makes up a life. I was very
rebellious but I grew out of it.

Hi jeri; It seems these testosterone fueled young guys have to learn sooner or later that they can't be a square peg in a round hole--society and culture demand you follow the rules and fit in. You know what I mean.

Hi kev; Nag--uh I don't know; I'd rather have a T-shirt that says "Advice whether you want it or not," LOL..

Glad you told the kid what was up. Did he really seem to get it? There are mature adults who go through life messing themselves up because they think that following rules means they are being controlled and they won't let themselves be controlled. They are confusing control with behaving in a civilized way so that we can all live well together without mayhem. They make it all about them. What an ego trip.

You really need to get your act together and start acting like a mature adult. Listen for once, then think before you open your mouth. You 20-somethings think you know it all. Oops.. this isn't stepdaughters blog... never mind...

Hi jj; Well, I reckon it isn't very mature to spout off opinions like I do, but heck, I think I oughta charge for giving advice because I'm prety good at it, ha ha.

If it makes you feel better, you are right. I don't know why this younger generation seem to have trouble following rules. Life is all about rules; they better get used to it.

I meant to say permissivity--if that's even a word!

Hi peach; Parents much be raising kids with so much laxity and permissitivy or whatever they don't learn when they're growing up how to behave and obey the rules?
