I was in the bathroom in back of the house, the TV was blaring, and I thought I heard knocking on the door. Probably a deer hunter looking for a dog, I thought.
Or maybe I was imagining it.
Then whomever it was finally used the doorbell and I made it to the door to find the members of a local church standing out there in the dark. The pastor handed me a fruit basket, and they all began to sing--two carols to be exact.
I was nonplussed, but thanked them for coming.

It's a fine fruit basket, and there are nuts scattered in there. I don't have a nutcracker, so sitting at the table I tried pounding the nuts with a steak sauce bottle, then a jar of peanut butter to crack some of them. No go. Then I got a jar of Crosse and Blackwell lemon curd and using that, even cracked Brazil nuts.

I don't think the Crosse and Blackwell would pound in a nail, but it sure worked on a variety of nuts! susil

I've got a jar of lemon curd I brought home from England a couple of years ago. It has sat through two summers of 90 degrees inside the house temperature while we are in Colorado and is starting to separate. I am thinking of taking a little wee little taste to see if it is still edible and then thank you for the biscuit idea, if it is, I'll make some biscuits. That was my other problem: what was I going to do with it.

What innovation! I used to carol when I was a kid, mostly in hospitals and nursing homes.

This was so christmassy and nice.

When I lived in the City, I had carolers. They even dressed in 19th Century costumes. Actually, it was my daughter and her friends. They sounded really great and they had a fun time bringing cheer to family and friends. If I could sing... I might try caroling. Maybe I can go along and smile.

If a group was caroling at me, I wouldn't know how to act. Join in? Stand there with a silly smile on my face? How does one use lemon curd? As a jam?

Carolers! What a treat! When I was in the choir at my old church, we used to go caroling around the neighborhood. It was great fun. And thanks for the mention of Crosse and Blackwell lemon curd — THAT's what I forgot at the grocery store!
