Katherine Jackson on Oprah

Monday Oprah interviewed Katherine Jackson on her show at Katherine's mansion.
Katherine seemed as candid as she will allow herself regarding Michael--that she loved him was obvious, and she is guarded and defensive talking about him. She said she begged his nasal surgeon just pretend he was changing Michael's nose, but the doctor ignored her. She said he loved kids and the charges brought against him weren't true.

Katherine said lots of her grandchildren live at the mansion. She and Oprah moved outside to sit at a table under a tree. All of a sudden Joe shows up, which wasn't in Oprah's script. You know how he looks, with those hooded snaky eyes. Oprah says "Michael told me when I interviewed him years ago that you (Joe) beat him." Joe says no not beat, you know how people used to do that. Katherine jumps in and says "He used a strap," as if to say Yes Joe, you beat him.

Then Oprah says the public thinks y'all are divorced. Are you? They both jumped in and denied that. Then a passel of grandkids came out. They are all good looking kids. Oprah asked one chubby little boy his name and he said Jermajesty (!) O kept on saying it and embarrassed the little fella.
Then she asked Michael's kids a few questions. Th daughter is poised and pretty and said she misses the breakfasts her father used to make. She wants to be an actress. The oldest boy Prince seems sharp too; he's petite and young but has an oddly deep voice. Blanket was shy, he hid behind a tree but emerged and sat down but never said anything. The other two go to school with other kids, but Katherine said Blanket is too shy. I assume he's home schooled. Hopefully, the kids have had counseling--they need it after the strange life they've led.

PS, if you see Michael's kids you can see right away they are not black in any way. Katherine acknowledged Debbie Rowe as their mother, but I betcha Michael isn't their biological father--not that it matters.
Anyway anytime you see an interview with the Jackson's you're left with the impression of weirdness. Just my opinion.

I think Michael Jackson was an amazing talent, and I loved his music. But I always thought he was a wounded soul, fragile in some way, perhaps from his childhood. His obsessive desire to transform his face and features and the way he created his ranch into a childhood fantasy land, perhaps in an effort to recreate his own childhood, not to mention his escapism through drugs, all were very telling of a wounded psyche. Very sad.

You're right. Some medications seem to numb the senses to a fault...I wouldn't personally know since I'm not medicated, although it might not be a bad idea.

Hi mom; If only I were medicated! Get me some marijuana! Get me some uppers! Get me some downers!
But no, I have Tylenol and Aspirin and am forced to "be good" but wished I had something ever since my knee tricked me.

Your opinion and mine too.

Hi jj; thanks for stopping by.

The schizophrenia comments make me giggle...ASD is often mistaken for it, especially when MJ would have been a child. I have "diagnosed" MJ with ASD post-humously...clear sensory processing issues...a mask worn around the nose and mouth is a suggestion we have heard from numerous sources, including Julian's Occupational Therapist.

Hi mom; that was interesting information, thank you.
Yep, he was very talented--maybe some mental or physiological quirks added to that talent.
For instance, you know, when people are treated for depression they often lose their creative streak, and some famous writers have refused medication to keep their creative juices flowing.

It sounds to me like a sick family legacy that Blanket will be heir to.
There is an inherited gene for schizophrenia.

Hi jeri; I didn't know about the inheirited schizo gene. That's interesting.
Well the kids will have a legacy of lots of odd stuff and lots of money too.

The family obviously needs a course in naming kids -- "Names for normal children 101" I don't know if Michael would have had a healthy emotional life if his parents had treated him differently. Sometimes you can't change the course of a kid's life. Obviously his unfortunate obsession with being a white female twisted him. Talented? Yeah, I guess, but I was never impressed with his stage tricks -- interesting once (like Irish dancing) -- after that, I didn't care.

Hi teal; I remember once hearing or reading that Michael had been diagnosed as schizophrenic at five years old--maybe that was in a tabloid, Haha. He might have been messed up from day 1.
I was at the Dollar Store today and they had MJ notebooks marked down on the sale rack, and I thought: The Jackson business corp. is gonna use his name to sell every stinkin thing unser the sun they can think of to make money off him--dog food next, maybe.

I can't believe I missed that interview. That's what I get for not watching daytime TV, I guess. I lovedMichael. Thanks for filling me in on what I missed...you're right...none of it matters now, anyway.

Hi mom; Weeks go by and I don't watch O, but this week caught it two days in a row. I never got into MJ because I'm a dinosaur and like Ray Charles instead.

I said the exact same thing about the biological father(s) because no way would Michael Jackson risk his children turning out dark skinned. Not that it matters. What the heck kind of name is Blanket for a person? Or an animal for that matter?
comment by troutbend on Nov 11, 2010 12:15 AM ()
The girl is named Paris, the oldest boy is Prince and the second boy Blanket's real name is Prince II--I think.

It was a nickname...they "blanketed" him in love and it just stuck.
