Yesterday my darling grandbaby phoned and said she had to write two essays for two different college classes she's taking, and she made an "A" on both, and the instructors complimented her. She said "Nana, I told them my Nana likes to write and I got it from her." Oh make my heart turn to butter, you!

Last night heard Bill Maher's show on HBO, with Jon Hamm as one of his guests (Jon the handsome devil from Mad Men). My god, nature manufactures a perfect person now and then, and he's one of them.
Anyhoo, Maher put up a photo of our ridiculous Mississippi governor, Haley Barbour, and says "This man is a Republican and Boss Hogg from the Dukes of Hazzard." Y'all, he nailed it--so so true. I've been trying to find an example to compare Haley Barbour to, and Bill Maher did it!

Had a busy day yesterday, and went to bed tired. The house is as clean as it's ever gonna get; laundry done, dusting, sweeing, mopping etc. all finished.
Got up at 5am this morning to make the 50 mile round trip to Walmart and hurry to get back before the temp climbs back up to 97 degrees. Early morning is the best time, easy to find a parking spot, not a lot of people in the store--not usually, although this morning other folks with the same idea were getting their shopping done early too.
By 9am, had gassed up the car (3.67 a gallon), gotten home with everything unloaded and in the house, had breakfast, and most of chores done.
