I was watching Larry King last night, and his guest was Hulk Hogan--accompanied by his lawyer. It seems Hulk's 17 year old son was drinking and driving a souped up expensive car and drag racing on a city street. He crashed the car and another young guy in the front seat suffered permanent brain damage.
Hulk was making all kinds of excuses for his son-1) the boy was practicing some kind of driving technique, 2) the car's frame was fiberglass, 3) etc and so on. What was missing was the fact that it was his son's fault, and the son and Hulk and his family seem loathe to take personal responsibility for what happened. Hulk countered every accusation with lamer and lamer excuses for his son. Not once did he say-My son was at fault and will have to do the right thing.
Hulk was in pain, you could tell. He is a parent. This is his son who has screwed up royally. Some surreptitious jailhouse tapes were played--when the son griped about jailhouse conditions, his mother wailed, "Oh honee, Nooo" etc. Tough sh*t, kid. A boy raised in a priveledged environment is having to face the music for his actions, and neither he nor his parents want to acknowledge that.
