The Black Half

News from the boonies: Went to art class yesterday; wasn't surprised that the Baptist Church Ladies there are firmly behind McCain, just as they were gung ho Bush supporters. I reminded them that 8 years ago I said Bush was an incompetent weasel and would go down as the worst president in history. I was a pariah then, and still am.
Listen, the Baptist Church Ladies, their husbands and families would vote for McCain no matter what, and here in deep south Mississippi I am sorry to say that the biggest anti Obama factor is simply that he is black. (The half white part doesn't count.)
Went into town this am and had to wait for a long train, but I love trains. Canadian National boxcars and tankers filled with truly noxious stuff like chlorine, molten sulfur, Co2, and H2O2 solution, and some unlabeled black tankers with lots of numbers on them but no identification as to what they might be hauling. A loud squeak as each went over the rails, and I thought maybe I'd better not park too close next time. Should one derail, I'd be a goner.
Stopped where a man was selling turnip greens with nice green tops and golf ball size white roots--Mmmm, they'll be good cooked with ham hocks. Well, fellow travelers, must go--waiting for cousin Andy the plumber to come work on a toilet that has been running water through the overflow for a couple of weeks. Bye for now, susil.

One of my previous jobs involved knowing what those DOT hazard numbers on trucks and train cars mean. We don't see much of it around here (not much chemical-using industry), but down where you live the trains definitely are more interesting. I did see a truck carrying radioactive stuff driving through Denver once. It was stop-and-go rush hour traffic so there was plenty of time to read all the placards on that truck.

Collard greens were tasteless to me (unless I smothered them with some kind of sauce.)

Well, we have made progress but Mississippi is still Mississippi.

So what have you got against weasels? I have never had collard greens and feel deprived.

My son loves collard greens--I do too. It is sad when the mettle of man is judged only on the color of his skin.

It turns out that "Joe the Plumber," the guy from Toledo McCain was praising and Obama was too - in last night's debate... well, Joe is really named "Sam," and he isn't a licensed plumber. It is all on Reuters and Google News.LOLOLOLOL
