I miss my Dad. He passed away almost 5 and a half years ago, but I still miss him.
I am a religious person and my beliefs are that I will be reunited with him once I die (provided I don't do anything between now and my departure from this earth to jeopardize my trip to the promised land - but I don't foresee that happening). Some days that is a HUGE comfort to me, other days I just want him back for a little while.
February 25Th is his birthday - he would have been 80 today - a milestone - we probably would have had a big celebration. Surprisingly, as I say that, I do not get sad; rather, a smile comes across my face - I can hear his laugh, picture him dancing - oh it's great.
So what shall I do to celebrate his birthday? I think I'll do what he would and indulge my sweet tooth. I can remember him bringing me home candy bars (much to my mother's chagrin), or having me point out my Mom's hiding spot for her latest baked goods so we could sneak a few cookies or brownies and laugh.
