Time 20081225

Tues evening we went over to another family's house for dinner. I put Kitty to bed as soon as we came home, but even then, after only a few minutes of reading to her, it was pushing 2300 by lights out. The last few evenings we had been getting her to bed by 2030 or 2100 and she'd been getting up at 0730 or 0800. Naturally, on that late night, she would sleep later, no, up by 0630. Wide awake.

Wed was uneventful except for a doctor's appt that took two hours, after I arrived on time. Another blood test coming up, but he doubts it will show anything.

After the trip to Salt Lake, I was going to mention Santa, but forgot. The relatives we stayed with coordinated with their neighbor to come over as Santa for the kids. I thought it was strange that they encourage the kids to believe in Santa and the Mormon god, Jesus stories, and all that religious stuff. At some age the kids' cognitive skills develop and realize that Santa doesn't exist, and he's dropped and only the myth remains. However, the parents continue to encourage the religious beliefs and don't encourage questions about the status of those myths.

funny,we were never brought up about Santa.I find this so strange.
My parents were immigrant and maybe this is the reason why.

Merry Christmas. So does that mean Kitty knows the myth and keeps it from the kids that believe? I figured it out when I was 8 or 9 and finding out was fun for me... but not for my parents.
Happy Holidays.

I was really a late bloomer when the reality of Santa was realized. In fact, I had to be told so I could help keep it up for my brother after my single mom took ill. I think it was because I really wanted to believe. Now, I know that all the good cheer and giving comes from within each one of us.
