I read something this morning that reminded of something a co-worker told me over ten years ago. She said that she didn't want to hear an account of events or a plot summary from me, but she wanted to know how I felt about those things, i.e., my emotional reaction.
What I was reading today was the same thing in a broader context. Women want to hear "I feel ..." instead of "I think...", so it's better to say, "When X happens (or you do Y), I feel Z". The point of what I was reading, was that men have a hard time with this.
It's something that I still haven't learned or made a habit.
