I guess we are settled into our routine here. They had a good day in the water, collected a good amount of data, and took a bunch of pictures. I looked at the data some while they were sorting out an cleaning stuff from the boat. That's a new task for me, but an obvious thing for me to do, since I'm not busy with gear or the boat. However, since it is the boss's laptop, I didn't think about the processing software that I wrote which she normally uses. Neither did she. She has only used it on her desktop computer and never copied them to the laptop. There was only an old version. Our system administrator is going to raid my computer and take care of us.

We were supposed to go out to dinner with the woman from the dive shop last night but she forgot and made other plans. She was going to direct us to a restaurant in another town.

The town where we are staying is not doing that well. Some of the restaurants and businesses are closed or have reduced days that they are open.

Dolly wrote an email yesterday in which she said that she talked with my mother. It would be better if she would just stay out of it. She did learn that my aunts and uncles are having a rough time with my grandmother's death, which surprised me, because the aunt I talked to made it sound like it was expected though sudden.

She also wrote that they like the pictures of Spots and that he's a well-traveled frog now, so maybe it's serving his purpose. I don't know what else to take a picture though. I don't know if the iguanas will try to eat it, so haven't put on the ground by them.

The day went okay yesterday. (It's always weird to to write in past terse, knowing that I'm not going to post this until what is currently tomorrow.) I spent a good part of the day reading the documentation for some software I'm learning and running it.

I caught up on some blog comments during a break from that. I can post to the blog from my PDA at the hotel, which is mostly what I have been doing, but reading and replying to comments is easier on a real computer, especially when I can't reply to comments at all. Posting pictures is easier there too.

In part of the morning I was helping our collaborator here set up for a TV film crew that is doing a story on his work. While they were filming they had me sit at the computer near the one he was using to make the lab look busy. Good thing I didn't have to say anything because they were all speaking Spanish though they asked me in English. Apparently they are planning to go out on the boat today with our group to film them in action.
