About three miles from me is an "Amish" bakery. I frequent it every once in awhile. I usually get an apple fritter and a long john. It takes me 3 weeks to eat them. That's because I parcel them into very small pieces and freeze them. I just celebrated another day of life with one. Yum. I will jog it off in about an hour.
I goofed off yesterday watching college football. All teams from my state won (Purdue, Notre Dame, Ball State, Butler, even Ind.State after losing 36 in a row!), EXCEPT my alma mater, Indiana U. After leading 28 to 3, they lost 29-28 (to Northwestern)! Heart wrenching. Bad coaching if you ask me. IU and the Cubs--losers forever. I think I'll switch allegiences.
Saw my new grandson, "Little John", once this past week. Quite the baby. Mother doing well. Her husband's organic farm is closing down for the season this coming week. They did okay, and "disasters" will be avoided next year, hopefully.
My Virginia sister sold her house, so she'll soon be uprooted. The plan is for her to move in with me "until further notice". We get along great, so that's no problem. Food/meals might be a challenge since she's a vegan. We'll probably go our own way, although she loves to cook for me. Actually, I like veggie burgers and humus, etc.
And remember when I asked all of you to vote for Hawaii or Florida for my winter vacation? For those of you that said "both", guess what? I just agreed to rent a house in Mexico Beach FL for two weeks in late Jan., early Feb.!! At $270/wk plus costs, that was quite acceptable. Sister Barbara wants to go and share expenses. That's even better! Three weeks after returning to Indiana, it's off to Hawaii. Maybe I need that government hand-out ($250) afterall!
One last Sunday Newsy: My father hopes to move into his "new old house" within the next two weeks. We've been gradually moving things over and are ready for the big items. I'm almost finished painting the outside. Weather won't cooperate.
Much is on my plate for the week, including making slaw and dehydrating pears today. I have a roof leak to patch, gutters to clean, wood to split, garden to work on (clean up and spread a truck load of cow manure I piled up), pond to fill in, leaves to rake, porch cracks to repair, etc., etc., etc. And here I am on the computer spending valuable time (original word was 'wasting").
Have a good Sunday and week! Cheers.
