It's a cool and windy, but sunny day here in Indiana, the "Crossroads of America", or so they say. This kind of weather may help dry out the fields. Farmers are getting somewhat anxious. I had to plant my garden without roto-tilling because it's been so wet. Weeds abound.
My California daughter called me yesterday to ask if "the bank of Dad" was open. She needs $2000 for car repairs, and promises to pay me back "sometime". How can I refuse?
I heard on the news last night that two senators (reps?), whose names escape me, are going to introduce a bill banning E.D. commercials before 10 PM due to family embarrassments. I say it's about time! In fact, they can ban them completely. I despise them as much as Billy Mays ads.
I see where Toyota lost more money (7.7 bil) the first quarter of '09 than GM. Who would have thunk?
Finished an interesting book by James McPherson titled "Tried by War", a look at the Civil War from Lincoln's perspective. Abe was caught between a rock and hard place with his obstreperous generals, mainly McClellan. If the author's analysis is accurate, I've lost some respect for Lincoln in his handling of the war situation, even the slavery issue. He was quite the procrastinater in making decisions. Good read.
I'm now reading short stories by Mark Twain. I'd forgotten what a brilliant writer he was! He may be featured in a later post.
Enough musings for today. Enjoy a great weekend, everybody!
