Coffin please. U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb, in Wisconsin, ruled the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional (Ap 15)!!!!!!! Hooray and Halejuhah!
The good judge said the day amounts to a call for religious action, and that "the government can no more enact laws supporting a day of prayer than it can encourage citizens to fast during Ramadan, attend a synagogue or practice magic".
Yes, it was "my group", the Freedom From Religion Foundation that filed the suit (back in '08) arguing the day violated the separation of church and state.
No, it wasn't President Obama's doing (or undoing) as so many of the right-wingers are screaming. He's always been in agreement with having such a day.
Sorry folks. It's unconstitutional! So sayeth the judge (and the Constitution). Excuse me while I go celebrate.
