I race is finally over. Now, perhaps, we can get back to normal. The Indy 500 dominates the news all May around here. Quite frankly, I get pretty tired of all the hoopla (although I don't mind looking at Danika Patrick's pretty face).
The live race is blacked out locally, so I have to wait and watch it later. Trying to keep from hearing who won is virtually impossible. Like so many sporting events, blackouts deprive many fans the opportunity to watch their favorite teams. In my opinion, it doesn't make that much difference in the size of the crowd. Rabid fans want to witness their team play in person, TV or not.
So while the race was being run all Sunday afternoon, I cut a load of firewood, hoed garden weeds, took a 3 mile hike, and watched the Cubs lose their 7th straight baseball game. I've determined that I am the jinx to the Cubs winning. When I watch them, they stink. If I miss a game, they win. If I leave the room, they score runs--when I sit, they are pathetic. You say it only SEEMS that way, but I'm telling you, it's a fact! They're on TV tonight. I'll watch them off and on while reading and flipping channels. We'll see.
Have a happy Memorial Day. I'm going jogging.
