Well, I'm finally finished cracking all the black walnuts from last year's crop.
I never used to like them, but I hated to see them go to waste (one of my many foibles). But I've learned to like them in desserts and on fruits. And, from what I've read, they're very very good for you.
I'm wondering, however, about the tradeoff. Will the hours I've spent cracking and extracting the nuts pay off in extending my longevity? If I spend, let's say, 500 hours picking through walnut shells, will I live an extra 501 hours? I'm counting on a payoff, or it's not worth the effort.
Oh what the heck--what else do I have to do during the long cold days of winter?
