Annie Hall, the Movie

In case you didn't already know, I seldom watch movies, either on the big screen or TV. Why not? Here's why not.

With nothing else on last night, I thought I'd try Woody Allen's Academy Award's "Best Picture" of 1977, "Annie Hall", with Diane Keaton winning "best actress". I'd never seen it (or I forgot I had). I wished I hadn't.

I stoically gutted out 40' worth before I cried "UNCLE!". It hurt me to watch it. Sure, it was meant to be "campy". But in my opinion, it was inane and insipid and irksome. I cringed at the dialog with its bickering and stupid one-liners. I was being tortured, not entertained.

Woody Allen may be a so-called genius, but he isn't funny to me. In fact, he's downright irritating. You may have your own opinion of him, but I'm finished with the little sniveler.

When a four star movie is this awful, you might understand why I don't watch movies. There are exceptions ("Pleasantville"), but, in general, I dislike them.
