We're Rich, Not!

Well... we're not rich from the garage sale, but all in all... it went pretty well today.

We originally thought that this weekend was our city wide garage sale when we started getting things ready over Memorial Day weekend. I had already told my kids we were having a garage sale, to which they were both super excited about cleaning out a few things and making a couple of bucks. When we went to register for the city wide sale, we realized that we had the wrong weekend. The city wide garage sale is next weekend. (Oooops! *^%$&*)

My kids really wanted to go ahead with the sale, so we did.
They both made about $25.00 and they were happy with that.

My husband and I still have quite a bit of stuff that we'd like to get rid of so I think we'll go ahead and register for next week. There will definitely be more traffic with a better chance to sell off more.

Whatever we don't sell is going to good will. I refuse to bring anything back in the house at this point. It feels so good to be in the house these days unburdened from too much stuff. It's neat... clean... uncluttered. I like it.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a gorgeous day.

G'night ya'll

Yeah, it was grim at the time. We had very different values. He didn't like his family, so assumed I was only joking when I said I loved mine. Interestingly enough, I did get over it. I realized it could make me crazy forever, or I could let it go, cry and be done. Stuff is stuff.

I hope that you manage to get rid of the rest of your stuff next weekend. A city-wide garage sale sounds like a neat idea.

I have had some really good experiences with garage sales. I like meeting people, talking with them about where I got my treasures, why they have to go, why they can't buy the book I'm reading.

But once upon a time my affianced held a surprise house sale for me while I was working on a Saturday.
He cleaned up!
He sold $12,050 worth of my Father's ivory Netsuke for $20.
He sold my 30 year collection of Classics Illustrated Comics for $20.
He sold all my years of Underground comics for $20.
He sold all my Marvel Comics for $20.
He sold my Waterford, Baccarat and Lalique crystal for $20. (Value $10,800)
He got $20 for my Father's Tiffany Lamp. (Value: $7,500.)
He got $20 for my stuffed Caiman. (Value: $1,600.)
When I got home, he gleefully presented my with almost $150.00.
I didn't marry him. He didn't understand.
He sold my inheritance for a box of oatmeal.(albeit a big box)
