Hans' wife bought me some yarn and needles and then taught me how to knit as my xmas present from her. I'm almost half way done with my first knitted scarf using a stocking knit stitch:

She then gave me a TShirt scarf that she had made out of Hans' old shirts since he has lost over 80lbs in less than a year. Loved it! It's grey and twisted - like the dark grey one below. I watched her make a link version which inspired me to make the orange one below from an old race tee that I had never worn but loved the color. I told her that I received a few compliments on it and that I had made two more for other friends - also from old cotton race tees. She then invited me to pintrest and I was hooked. I saw all the different ways you could upcycle tee shirts and went crazy yesterday:
My favorite, and also the one I spent the most time on. I even learned how to plate - braiding with 4 strands:

My first one in orange using horizontal bands, quadrupling each loop and then tying them together (no sewing):

A variation of the one Hans' wife gave me with loose strands:

Using the bottom half of a tee, stretching it, and then doubling it. Plus I added tshirt flowers:

Ruffled with tshirt flowers:

Ridiculously fun, for me. The knitting is taking days but the Tshirt scarves take minutes. I already have a scarf addiction and now I can make a scarf for every outfit!
