Metro Commuter
Metro Commuter
I've been recovering this week from the Pasadena Half Marathon last Sunday. I tweaked my Achilles Tendon at Mile 11 of the 13 mile race.
I didn't pop it or really strain it but it's still a little tender. I won't be able to run again until it is healed but read that it was okay to do light cycling. So after 4 days of feeling like a slug having only done a little yoga once and several tricep dips, I decided it was time for some light cycling.
That's right I finally rode my bike to work today. I rode to the Metro Station, rode the train, and biked to work from the nearest train station.
It felt great! And it seemed like everyone was smiling at me - quietly cheering me on for being a commuter, for being green, having pig tails, etc. LOL It made the whole ride so rewarding. Of course, it was only my first trip.
I love my bike and I can't wait to get better at starting and stopping. I handled the traffic pretty well. My first time cycling in traffic since I was a kid.
It was exhilarating and a good substitute for not being able to run this week.
Have a great weekend!
