Getting More Miles Under My Belt
My training is going very well with the new group. I'm gonna run with them on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and run on my own on Saturdays. They are great and very dedicated. They also slow my pace down which is a good thing for me.
I'm helping them with running tips and they are helping me become a long distance runner. We did 4 miles on Tuesday and 6 miles on Thursday morning. I would have never gotten that distance in without them as I tend to run faster and burn out faster.
I'm missing my 7 mile long run this weekend for my 5K (5K = 3.1 miles) on Sunday in Long Beach. I'm really looking forward to the race. Not sure if I can beat my personal best 5K time as my training schedule has left me a little tired and sore.
It wouldn't be the new me, if I didn't train hard and play hard. Because I need a break, tonight is laundry and tv night. Tomorrow morning I might run a few miles to feel like I'm keeping with my training schedule. I have to get to Long Beach around noon to pickup my race packet and get back to Thom's by 5pm. He's decided to go to Oktoberfest with me Saturday night. Yippee! I doubt he will chicken dance though. LOL The visual of him doing the chicken dance just made me giggle.
Sunday morning, we'll get up at 5am to head back to Long Beach to cheer on a few friends at the start of their Half Marathon, followed an hour later by my 5K fun run.
Thom and I are planning to hang out in Long Beach to dine at BubbaGumps for lunch and maybe stroll through the Aquarium of the Pacific.
Overall, a busy and fun weekend ahead. I'm really looking forward to it. I just hope my legs are ready too!
