Bumpy Ride

Having my parents around tends to stress me out. I love them but after all they are parents. Plus I'm really blue about this sports injury. Hoping the PT has good news for me when I see him next week.

My parents and I had a lovely Saturday filled with breakfast, roaming the Getty museum with Thom, followed by drinks and shrimp-fest at Bubba Gs on the Santa Monica Pier.

On Sunday after consulting with his buddy, my dad decides to put a new battery in the Caddy. I had told him this was necessary but what do I know? I'm a girl who has driven it for 7 years now. We go to auto z and the guy replaces the battery and it doesn't work. We spend 3 hours in the parking lot in the 90 degree sun, trying to figure out what was wrong. We then leave the car there overnight since all repair shops in the area are closed by 6pm on Sundays.

Long story short, there are two wires to be attached to the positive part of the battery and the auto dork tucked one of the wires aside and therefore the car wouldn't start.

That wasted my Monday morning as well. I was emotionally drained from the whole debacle, left in tears and feeling helpless as my auto mechanic sold his business to a parking lot. I couldn't believe that I was this close to getting a new car and the old one had issues... okay in this case the auto jerk had issues not the car - luckily.

Monday evening we settled on dinner at Olive G and calmed down together over soup and salad after a rough 24 hours.

Tuesday they stayed out of the heat until evening and we headed on the Metro to dine on Olvera Street. I found a great straw cowboy hat to wear at the upcoming party in the desert and to the Grand Canyon. I also found a simple strapless dress in off white to deflect the hot desert sun.

When we returned from the Metro, the new car had been towed. My Dad and I found it and paid $251 to get it back. I felt bad that I hadn't insisted we park somewhere else and chipped in $11 to help reach the "exact change" that the towing service required. That really sucked. My dad decided he wasn't gonna share that little adventure with his best friend back home. (the one that is anxiously awaiting the Caddy).

We're hoping that after everything that has happened that their trip back in the Caddy will be smooth sailing.
