Well, my neighbor who is addicted to prescription pills will be leaving at the end of the month to enter an assisted living facility. I will honestly not be that sad to see her go.
She has been in the hospital six or seven times, everytime as the result of the drugs she has taken. Â She nearly died before Christmas from a bleeding ulcer because she was taking six to nine aspirin a day plus heaven knows what else.
Then recently the staff found her unconscious from taking too much morphine. Â She also takes hydrocodone; and if I were guessing, I would bet she had mixed the two.
She goes from doctor to doctor getting whatever she can convince them to give her. She stays so hopped up on prescription drugs that she gets things one says to her confused. Â I am afraid to say anything because I never know to whom she will repeat it or in what convoluted form.
It is sad because she is killing herself with prescription drugs; but there is really nothing I can do about it. Â Her family has washed their hands of her because they believe her pain is all psychological.
Even though she has brought this on herself, I cannot help but feel sorry for her at the same time. Â She has three sons and several grandchildren and not one of them came to see her at Christmas nor she did she receive a single gift.
Another example of what addiction can do to a family and the person who is addicted.
