All right, folks! Line forms to the right! All those accused of slapping a horse go directly to jail; do not pass "go" and do not collect $200 dollars.
Sound ridiculous? Well, no more so than this story out of St. Petersburg, Florida, where Stephanie Six recently spent over twelve hours in jail for allegedly doing just that....slapping a horse! Poor thing! The horse, of course!
If convicted, Ms. Six will not only NOT collect her $200 but instead could face a fine of up to $1000 and a year in jail. Remind me NEVER to slap a horse!
Now, Ms. Six pleads innocent of these grievous charges, stating that suddenly the horse was right in her face , so she merely gave the pony's face a shove. I guess one might call it a face-to-face confrontation!
This confrontation may not have occurred at the OK Corral, but it was a bit of a showdown nonetheless. Seems the police were using mounted riders outside a tavern for crowd control when the dastardly deed apparently occurred.
"They're saying I slapped this horse when that's not the case," said Six. "I was basically getting it out of my face. I did not hit him."
As one who has felt like slapping a horse a few times myself, particularly after one turned around and bit my butt as I was saddling him, I'm torn on this issue. Seems the police might have over reacted just a bit. Of course, she and the horse may have got into a shouting match or something before the alleged "slapping." That could make it a completely different ballgame, especially if that horse were cursing!!
They call that extenuating circumstances, I think!
