We Lost Whitney Many Years Ago

Though Whitney Houston officially died yesterday, we lost her many years ago when she submerged herself into the drug culture of her bad boy husband, Bobby Brown.

Her attempts in recent years to come back have been marred by cancelled performances and a raspy voice, ruined by too many cigarettes and too much alcohol and drugs.

Her incomparable voice sounded raspy as she could no longer hit the high notes for which she was famous. She was actually booed at several concerts as people walked out.

But when she was great, she was magnificent.

This is probably the best rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" ever sung. Listen to her when she still had that powerful voice performing at the 1991 Super Bowl.

Yes Brown sobbed as he went on with his show because of his love for the fans and Whitney--you don't want to know what I am thinking!!!

That scumbag is still alive; his sobbing does nothing to soften my opinion of him one iota.

What an amazing, extraordinary voice and talent in such a fragile ego and soul....

Bobby Brown ruined Whitney. He was a criminal with a drug record when she fell in love with him. His influence over her was tragic, to say the very least.

I agree with you, her torment is over. I don't know how much suffering she felt - maybe she was having a good time, but it was painful for all of us to watch her life go down the tubes, and she must surely have realized at some level that things were not right.

I think she had to have lamented the loss of that magnificent voice. She entered rehab twice trying to kick her drug and alcohol additions; but she always went back. I believe she was tormented. In a way it is almost a relief that she has passed on. As you say, it was hard for us to watch her deterioration through the years.

She lasted longer than I thought she would

I know. I read last night that Bobby Brown sobbed when he heard the news. I have no sympathy for him; he dragged her into that world.

Sad. Loved her beautiful voice and her grace and command on stage. After she lost the voice from all the bad stuff I missed her.

So did I. She sang on Dancing With The Stars a couple of years ago. It was painful just listening to her.

Bobby Brown was not a very helpful guy there. He was a druggie and pass it on to Whitney.
She had one of the powerful voice there and people.A beautiful girl and such a tragedy.
We are going to miss her.I always loved you.Rest in Peace.

Her torment is over now. She tried to pull herself out of that culture; sadly, she was too far gone and was never able to do so. But we can revel in the legacy she left us. As for Bobby Brown, I have no use for the influence he had on her.

Drugs are such a curse in our society.

Drugs have claimed so many talented people and so many young lives. You would think people could look around and see what it has done to others; yet, this pattern just keeps repeating itself. One of the scourges of our society.

Such a sad waste.

Yes it is, Tracy. She has fallen the way of so many who get into that horrendous pattern of doing drugs.
