Big news at the Ft. Worth Zoo this week as a new baby one-horned rhino, an endangered species,  was born.  The baby, as yet unnamed, is already charming visitors, and I can see why.  Isn't that just the cutest little butt. Just makes one want to squeeze it. Wouldn't recommend it though.  Mama's keeping her new arrival pretty close.  By the way, it's a girl!
In other news, an Asian youth pulled an AK-47 Assault Rifle from his pick-up during an altercation early Thursday morning in a downtown parking lot and threatened several others with it.  They fled and called police, who discovered the youth and two others sitting in his vehicle.  They found the weapon, locked and loaded with twenty rounds of firepower. ÂÂ
The youth was arrested and also busted for possession of cocaine.  Get this!  He's already been released.  No word on whether he got to take his weapon with him.  Knowing the Texas gun laws, however, it wouldn't surprise me.  Again, I ask.  Why in the world is it legal to sell these kinds of weapons in the first place?  They are exactly what the name states...ASSAULT WEAPONS.
Good news for disabled veterans.  They will now ride free on the DOT system, both rail and bus in Dallas.  The rail system continues to expand, now offering service all the way from Denton to Downtown Dallas.  If you have ever tried to leave Dallas on I-35 north during rush hour, you know what a godsend that is.  The rail also has tentacles reaching out in all other directions as well.
And troubled American Airlines, which declared bankruptcy last year and hubs at DFW, has now agreed to exchange information exclusively with US Airways, which has made no secret of the fact that it would like to buy the troubled airline.  This could have a major impact on the Dallas economy if the hub moves.
That's it for now....See you next week.
