Let Them Eat Crow!

The "wingnuts" over on the other website are about to poop their pants over the proposed educational center and mosque that the Muslims plan to build some two blocks from Ground Zero.
The strip joints and porn shops that have sprung up around Ground Zero don't seem to bother them in the least.
Never mind that the Imam who is building it is funded by Rupert Mudock, while his television station,  Fox TV,  is egging them on.  Of course, they are blaming Obama, claiming that he is siding with the Muslims, and that he is a "closet" Muslim himself.

However, we saner ones over there have been raking them over pretty good about their obvious disregard for the First Amendment, especially in light of the fact that they constantly scream that Obama is trampling all over the Constitution.
Now they are whining that they are being "racially profiled" because, as American citizens they oppose the Mosque being built and they want to send all the illegal immigrants back to Mexico.
It seems not everyone in American agrees with them, much to their surprise.
Their argument is that these people have come to "their" country; therefore, they should respect their wishes and in general just bow down at the feet of American citizens.
Oh, that's another thing.  The Imam who is building it IS an American citizen and has worked tirelessly to improve relations between Muslims and Christians.  In fact, he is on a peace-keeping mission on behalf of our government in the Middle East right now.
Someone obviously forgot to remind them that they are the product of immigrants themselves.
They just make me want to throw up, preferably on a few of them.

Forgive me for extending this exchange ... I have long believed that the terror mentality does not only not respond to reason, but counts on our reason to be part of their weaponry against us. They are not "dealable". Rational muslims must band against their crazies but too many do not.

The Muslims in the mountainous area of Pakistan have been trying to do just that. Unfortunately many have lost their lives doing so.

I saw Bloomberg on TV."There is already a mosque four blocks away. Should it, too, be moved?"
This is on google new. Excerpt>> Bloomberg said.
"The question will then become how big should the no-mosque zone around the World Trade Center be,"
comment by anacoana on Aug 28, 2010 1:48 PM ()
The whole thing is ridiculous. We have bigger issues than this that our government needs to be addressing.
reply by redimpala on Aug 28, 2010 3:51 PM ()
The Far Right's reasons for opposing the mosque are not relevant. Unless you believe that backing down will appear to strengthen their cause and that should not be a reason either. In my opinion, the right thing is to heal the fracture, not beat your breast about your rights. No one is disputing your rights. What I would ask, if I were in the discussion, is do you want to make this go way OR NOT? End of story.. This ought not to be "but THEY want" because, frankly, who cares what THEY want? Just do the thing that works.
comment by tealstar on Aug 28, 2010 11:10 AM ()
Teal, you are absolutely correct. However, the far right is exerting a lot of pressure. I believe we should not back down because we cannot afford to let the far right send a message to the rest of the extreme Muslims here and in other countries that they are now in control of our government. Mayor Bloomberg is firmly convinced and I am also that to do so would be to guarantee another terrorist attack on American soil. America is at its best when it is tolerant, which is the message that MUST come out of this to the Middle East.

That makes two of us, Fredo. They are not going to get upset with Palin and Beck. They are their heroes.

It's always something isn't it? I am looking forward to this becoming old news.

With these extremists, if it isn't this, it will be something else. They are determined to hang Obama out to dry, no matter what he does.
reply by redimpala on Aug 28, 2010 7:49 AM ()
I wish Obama had not gotten into this but he did and this country WAS founded on a belief that that the state and religion was separate and that
the freedom to worship is a constitutional right. My Huguenot ancestor
fled France before we were a country in order to worship as he chose. I
can't get that worked up over the question because the best course after a
tragic event is to move forward.

I agree and to remember that we are not fighting Islam; we are fighting Al-Queda, a fanatical sect of Islam.

I agree in principal, but if the Muslims want to win hearts and minds, they should be more sensitive. It is true there is a lot of emotional hysteria but the problem has escalated. If they back down and build it elsewhere, the problem goes away and it's not like issues like this will come up every day. There is some contention about oh, how far away is far enough. I would say, anywhere above 14th Street. The merits of the anger is not relevant. That it exists emanates from a horrible tragedy. And it is this tragedy the Muslims should take into account. It's just the graceful thing to do. Jay once told me that in a confrontation, it is the wise person who makes the concession because the other is not capable of doing it. Someone has to compromise and you can't expect understanding from the emotionally hysterical, so if you want healing, build it somewhere else.

The real reason the far right opposes Cordoba House is NOT because it's too close to Ground Zero. Read this letter that appeared on Tea Party.org in which they plainly state that they believe Muslims are trying to take over the United States and that thousands if not millions of them want to behead all Americans. They want all Muslims expelled from America. They also do not believe that they are entitled to the same religious freedoms as Jews and Christians.

According to blogger Ahmed Rehab, who posted this on the Huffington Post,"It quotes select passages from of the Quran out of context, a game that can just as easily be played with the Torah or the Bible."

Re: Tea Party - Truth Behind 911 Mosque

From: teaparty@teaparty.org

The American people find articulating their concern over the proposed Mosque near the sight of the 911 attacks problematic. On one hand, many view the First Amendment a shield of protection for religious freedom, on the other hand, some view the First Amendment as providing a haven for religions with a hostile political agenda wrapped in cleric's robes.

Is it any wonder that there is so much confusion on this matter? Most Citizens of the United States have never experienced the driving and all consuming force of a Theocratic government with its crushing Theo-political tenet.

The American religious experience is the usual Sunday morning 'hymn singing'; passing the offering plate, an off tempo choir and the occasional neighborhood revival. The 'Church supper and bake sale mentality' gives way to a much colder and more formidable view of religious practices, which are not only unfamiliar, but also antithetical to the 'Sunday Go To Meeting' crowd.

The United States Judaic/Christian roots are being 'God Shocked' by the concept that a religion can and does demand world domination by any means, including violence if necessary.

The Koran states: Sura 61:9 He it is Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islamic monotheism) to make it victorious over all (other) religions even though the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah and His Messenger Muhammad) hate (it). (Hilali and Khan, The Noble Qur'an, Riyadh: Darussalam, 1996)

Allah's Messenger said: "By Him (Allah) in Whose Hand my soul is, surely the son of Mary [Isa (Jesus)] will shortly descend amongst you people (Muslims), and will judge mankind justly by the Law of the Quran (as a just ruler) and will break the Cross and kill pigs and abolish the Jizyah [a tax] ...." (Bukhari 3:2222) .

The growing confusion among Ministers and their Congregations over the nature of legitimate Islamic worship and the practice of Taqiyya[1] is causing serious questions regarding the constitutionally protected practice of religion, if that religion is detrimental to the welfare and domestic tranquility of the very nation whose constitution protects it.

The emerging question is: Should the first amendment protect the practice of a religion which has a hostile political agenda wrapped in cleric's robes? Should the U.S. Constitution protect a religion whose focus is converting the United States from a Democratic Republic into a Theocracy lead by religious cleric's who are antithetical to what made this nation great and what keeps it great? Is this the change America should have or needs?

How can the Citizenry demarcate a concept which holds the well established fact that millions of the Islamic faith have called for a Holy Jihad and thereby demand the complete annihilation of the west? Yet, this same Citizenry is expected to open their arms to that very same religion, welcoming them as friends, protecting them with the same Constitutional protection Synagogues and Churches have enjoyed for over 234 years.

To make matters worse, this same Citizenry is expected to grant permission to build a Mosque on American hallowed ground, thereby, offering sanctuary and worship for the same religion which was instrumental in the 911 attacks.

Will it become necessary for the courts to hand down a litmus test for religion? If a religion passes the litmus test, then and only then that religion is welcome and protected?

However, if the religion in question fails the litmus test... will that be reason enough to expel the failed theological expression from our shores?

Should 'We The People" give haven to religions whose main purpose it to install a system of Theo-political colonization? Shall the American people welcome with open arms a religion having untold millions of members demanding the beheading of western infidels? Shall the People of America grant safe haven to those who cheerfully work for the day Israel, the United States and all other non-Islamic states are finally eradicated off the face of the earth?

These bothersome questions are not ones of religious rights, but rather of the will of the people. Will the people tolerate everything?

Will 'blanket tolerance' be the downfall of the Judaic/Christian basis of the American society?

Is there nothing which will compel We The People to stand up and say: "It stops here and no further," shall this be America's crucifixion?

Or, shall the American people create a feathered bed for all those who plan our demise, who work diligently for our destruction and for those who will celebrate the day America will be no more.

I don't think that is going to happen because this building is already there, and the Imam has already purchased it. It is not even within sight of Ground Zero from what I understand. It is two blocks away.

Funny that all these people up in arms over the mosque aren't the least bit disturbed that Beck is dishonoring, soiling the memory of MLK by holding his rally the same date and place
comment by greatmartin on Aug 27, 2010 7:46 PM ()
Now, do you really think Beck and Palin and their cohorts give a flip about MLK or any other minority?
