I pruned my neighbor's overgrown ficus at her invitation. It was too leggy and full of dead branches. During the process, I nipped the middle of my left ring finger pretty deeply.
Hands spotted w/sap, I went inside to wash my wound, neosporin and bandage it.
Returning to my work in progress, the tree began looking considerably better. The health of a well pruned tree depends on how and where you make the cut. If you prune the width, the tree will grow vertically. If you prune the top, the tree will fill out horizontally.
When I was done raking the pruned debris, the tree looked great. I guess some things I learned in horticulture have served me well over the years.
Take care with the move coming soon. STUFF, weird..how we manage to gather stuff, to have to deal with. Do we own it or is it the other way around.
