Many of you were my buddies on Blogster and to see you in this new venue is exciting. Kinda like hooking back up with friends you could hand-pick.
My profile has changed somewhat. Some of you know that I took a job in Eugene, Oregon this past year. It went swimmingly, but it was difficult being apart from my family.
I recently moved back and am jobsearching for a Graphic Design position. My expertise is in book cover and packaging design. You can see many of my cover designs on: wipfandstock.com
Lesson learned: no matter how promising a job is, never take it on if it means family separation. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, but one must be creative to keep the heart in place.
Thankfully in my case, this is true, but graver realizations materialized. The creaturely habits we share, such as making morning espresso and breakfast - are sorely missed on a daily basis. The hanging out conversations and enjoying each other's presence - when you have long periods of living alone, well, it all adds up to pining for what you had.
Though wiser and more experienced, this journey revealed aspects of my family and self that might give way to a future book (inspired by Jondude). We'll see. Thoughts?
