Just another week-end for the two of us. I would like to go to the lake and visit with my youngest son - but just can't leave sister alone for the night. Wish we knew some nice little ole lady, who would just come and visit and fix meals for her - and get paid. But among my friends, know no nice widows.
Tomorrow will mark a very special day in our history. I have several great gggg grandfathers, who I should say thanks to. I have done a lot of research and wonder how we ever won the war. They would serve a couple of weeks, then go home and another group of "farmers" would take their place. My fore fathers - the Reed group - lived in Virginia and what is now W. Va. I think they were part of the "over the hill group" that we read about. I find their names and records with them. Thanks all you BRAVE men.
Then, they ventured on to Ky., Ark., and then made the trip to Texas with what I believe was a group, that came with an Englishman, who had been given lots and lots of land in Texas. There are the records that name the great-grandparents, who name I recognize. Even the great grandfather that was scalped by the Okla. indians and left propped up again a tree as if asleep - with his hat covering his "bald hear." My grandmother's father. She told me about him.
'Nuff about all my brave forefathers. Have a great day and eat lots of ribs for me.
