My Teen Life As I Know It

Manic Monday

My morning didn't start out so great. I got up this morning with a stinking cold, couldn't swallow and nose constantly tingling, like I was going to sneeze. I felt miserable. I wanted to skip my math class but my dad wouldn't let me, said I was overreacting and being dramatic. He told me to take an Aleve then drove me to the high school. Being that it's summer school and not during the regular school year, I couldn't get into school, because they locked the back gate where I walk in during the mornings, so I had to spend another 10 minutes walking AROUND to the front gate.

Then we had a pop quiz in class, which I'm pretty sure I bombed.

Remember cute boy? Well, I found out from a reputable source (my sister) that he's dating some college girl. It sucks but I'm not the kind of girl to get in the middle of something like that, and besides, he probably wouldn't date a high school girl after getting a college girl. I need to focus on passing this class right now anyway -- it's not looking very promising!

NO, I was NOT having a good morning!!

But things are looking up. I am starting to feel less stuffy and sicky -- my mom thinks it's my allergies and not a cold that's developing.

I babysat this afternoon (for two hours) for my favorite family -- the one with the little girl I told you about with Down Syndrome. Her parents are going away on vacation and they asked if I would go along as a babysitter/mother's helper. If my parents agree to it, I'd get my first glimpse of the ocean!! They have an ocean-side condo in Florida on Anna Maria Island. This will give me great motivation to work even harder in my class. I know my dad wouldn't let me go unless I get at least a B. I'm shooting for an A, but right now I'd be happy for a B.

Tonight my plans are simple: watch TV. My two favorite shows are on tonight: Big Bang Theory (a rerun, but still funny), and Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations". Bourdain's show happens to be mine and my dad's favorite new TV program, along with Deadliest Catch. Pop some popcorn and chill...ah, that's the life! :-P
