Catch-up Time

Since I've had to rest my hip, I've been kind of useless at home. I'm finally feeling a bit better, but sadly, my month or so of doing practically nothing around the house really shows. Hubby keeps up with the dishes and laundry, and my daughter will pick up every now and then. But the serious de-cluttering has always been up to me.

It's a little bit harder now that my husband is here. He likes to have his say... and his way. It would be fine if he were better than me in the keeping things neat department, but at the very least, we are the same. Actually, his idea of 'neat' and mine are completely different.

He likes everything out in the open, where he can cast his eyes about and spot what he's looking for. He doesn't think we need to get rid of anything, he just thinks we need to "organize it better".

Oh blah! Back to the grind again.

I tend to go for that Spread It Out in Plain View Theory. At my other house, I've got a narrow counter top as we go into the living room, and can't bear to clear it off because I'm afraid I won't remember where all the various house keys (for the rental cabins), the tape measure, rental calendar, the postage stamps, etc. are stored. Yes, I have an office, but somehow it doesn't work to move it in there. Maybe this'll be the year I do something about it, but not holding my breath.

There is a lot to be said for being able to see exactly what you need when you need it. I'm all for that, so long as I can close a door on it, lol.

Thanks, I will. We've certainly faced bigger battles than these.

your husband sounds like me --but i never get my way Cath is quick off the mark if i put something down expecting it to be there when i want it, then i have to ask her where it is WOMEN

Oh, if only I could have MY way!

Men are all alike. They have to have stuff where they can see it and
grab it. Ted has a little table where he keeps all his stuff at hand. I
bought a box that looks like a book for him to keep it in and he has it full
and stuff back out where he can see it. You can't win this war.

That's what I was afraid of.

I confess, I am a 'closet neatnik'! I decided when we got married that I didn't want to be a nag, and I didn't want to have little hissy-fits every time something was out of place. Also, you cannot be OCD about this when you have five kids, so I've buried my true nature. However, now that there are fewer people to mess things up, I have to admit, I would like to raise the bar.
