My newest addiction is the television show Psych. It is a mystery series that centers around a guy that solves crimes by pretending to be a psychic. He kind of got forced into it when he was accused of a crime because he was able to finger a number of suspects in crimes because he is really observent. The police think he is involved, but he claims to be a psychic in order to explain how he sorted things out. Now, he can't get out of the habit because he would probably get in trouble.
He brings along his friend to help out. In real life the friend is a pharmaceutical rep, and many people will recognize him as formerly being on the cast of The West Wing, in which he played Charlie the President's Man.
This show is simply hysterical. It is just a bit satirical, and the humor reminds me a lot of a lot of the detective shows of the 80's like Moonlighting and Remington Steele, which is probably good because, according to an interview with the writers, that is the feelign they are supposed to achieve.
Corbin Bernson (from L.A. Law) is also on the show. He plays the main character's dad, who had always wanted his son to grow up to be a successful cop like him. That is probably why the main character ended up being a quirky screw-up instead. With that said, that is also why he is so observent of details, which is what makes him a great private detective.
