Last week, our server at work had a complete meltdown. It has added an extra level of interesting to our lives at work. Overall, it really could be worse. We are still able to do our jobs ... well, for the most part.
In reality, we can't complain too much. It is more than 6 years old. It is technically still functional. The real challenge is that we can only access the files on it with the Macs in the building, of which we only have two and a couple of laptops.
We have had a tech in to see if he can figure out a way to make it work, ut there is a real strong belief that we are going to have to replace it. That means a cost of about $3500. That is not the greatest of news. Non-profits don't usually have that kind of spare change in their budgets.
Hopefully, it is something they will be able to resolve pretty quickly, though, because I need to get into a number of files that I keep on the server. I have to finished getting my marketing and other stuff finalized for the summer reading program, which will kick off in about a month.
I just feel bad for our IT guy. He is pretty stressed about it as he tries to find an affordable and quick way to sort it out. Fortunately, I can say this is something I can't worry about because I don't know enough about this stuff to be of any help. I just have to wait for it to get fixed by someone else.
