If you read my ponderous posts you know I painted a metal trash can a few weeks ago. I did it for a live auction our art guild will have in a week and a half. It will be the second year I spent much time painting something without renumeration, out of the civic spirit that sometimes overcomes me.
Today the local newspaper, a stolidly Republican right-wing bastion of the community, published and distributed a supplement which contains full color photographs of all thirty-some trash cans painted by art guild members.
I noticed therein that the trash can I painted and titled "Vincent's On The Can" - as I painted it in the manner of Mr. Vincent Van Gogh, a dead Dutch artist - is photograph number 21. Beneath the photograph of the can painted by myself and signed thereon, is the caption:
Artist: JOHN Adams
I have emailed the members of the board of directors of the art guild and the editor-in-chief of the "news" paper that I believe a correction is in order, as it required about a week of my time to create the painting and it was all pro-bono and I do not know anyone named JOHN Adams.
Furthermore, If this is not corrected and published I will go to the art guild gallery and snatch that can away in order to fill it with spare cat litter or something.
Imagine! Someone is claiming that they - not me! - painted it! Imposters! Usurpers! Art fakers! Imagine.
