Painting Progress ...

I am working on five, count 'em, five paintings. One is another vineyard series painting. A second is a new Monterey Peninsula (CA) painting of a road going through a thick copse of cypress and pines that looks like a tunnel, another is Hobbie's portrait, another is a seaside copse of Monterey Cypress along a wood-fenced path, and the fifth one is a small study.

Since I broke into the Columbus "big-city" art market my sales have been good. I am getting more for the artwork. In fact, I am getting between 400 and 500 now for paintings that a year ago would have been priced between 250 and 350.

One of the large ones I mentioned above is going to be priced at 600, a first for me.

The difficulty now is finding time. I have so many calls on my time. Most of those are due to the Art Guild, which is all volunteer. I am the Gallery Curator and I also teach there. I am responsible for many things and they seem to pile up more and more. As a board member I have to stretch beyond just hanging artwork and making sure the doors get locked. Last Monday the President could not attend the board and general meetings, and I was picked to conduct both.

Last night the arthritis started to bother me so I made chili. I used my bag of ground turkey and sausage (with bread crumbs, peppers and onions), fried it up and added my 2010 chili sauce and some various beans. I gave it extra Tabasco, and in an hour after eating the arthritis was in the background. If you don't know the effect of Capsaicin on arthritis, read up on it and go get some chili peppers to put in your food. It also is an aid in fighting psoriasis.

I have Capsaicin cream but I frequently cannot tolerate spicy food anymore, which is really sad because I love them!

Good luck on getting your painting price. I made chili two weeks ago, enough to freeze. Out it comes when the weather turns cold.

I'm glad to hear you found a better market for your art. I'm picturing five paintings arranged in a line in your studio, you load up your brush with a certain color and visit each canvas to dab some one where it goes.

Very pleased things are improving for you. Would suggest you cut back a bit on your volunteering. Don't expect others to say you're doing too much, take a rest. They won't and the requests will keep coming. So protect yourself. I'm switching over to Hobbie now.

For people who can't eat it, Capsaicin can be found in supplement form, too. It's an amazing anti-infamatory...I use it when my adhesions are acting up.

Good for you on the paintings! A good friend and wonderful artisan once said to me during one those late night talks that have a mood of their own, "imagine how wonderful the world would be if we could all earn a living doing what we love". Kudos to you.

...makes me wonder what chili peppers could do for sore backs?

My husband and I adore spices. We add our regulars to most of our dishes. I would put them here but most might be considered philistine…Helloooh Season-all…

The husband likes trying out different ways to season food. Which are not always successful. Like the time he slow baked some steak with slices of orange on top of them. It was the most HORRID tasting thing I have ever put in my mouth…he agreed.

The chili sounds wonderful! I think I might make some in the crock pot this week...

Capsaicin cream is my old standby. Some people can't take the heat but I
love the warmth. I never thought about it internally but we love hot and
spicy food.
