Evaluating Laws or Proposed Ones ...

When I evaluate a proposed law, a ballot voter proposition or a dispute of any kind that calls for my opinion or vote, I consider these two questions:

1. Can it cause me direct physical or financial harm?
2. Will it take away any rights that I and my fellow citizens now have?

If the answer to one of those is YES, I oppose it.
If the answer to both of those is NO, then I will support it.

We all need to protect Social Security. It is our money which should never
have to be quarreled over. Perhaps I misunderstand the issue, but no woman
or her husband has to buy birthcontrol if their strong belief opposes it. You know that the Pope, Cardinals Bishops and Priests have a vested interest (scroll down, I got passionate here)
in keeping the Catholic Church populous. It is a matter of money and power. I want women to have a choice to have children or not Have children. Remember the 19th century when every family had 6 to a dozen
kids and their mother was worn out and went to an early death? I think it
is a health issue for women. I know that you feel the same way and I guess
I am pontificating for the benefit of others.

The 1%ers co-op your legitimate positions, that's my point.

So many proposed laws we are asked to vote on are more complex than they first appear.

I don't trust the news media, so always look for the information put out by the League of Women Voters where they try to describe both sides of a ballot issue. Maybe even that isn't totally balanced, but it usually gives me an idea of what to look for when I seek additional information.

Don't misinterpret me. I am NOT a one percent-er. I use the criteria because I am on Social Security and have to protect my own skin. The second item is most important. I never want to see rights taken away from anyone. That is what the extreme right is trying to do.
