The Drums Again!

I woke up again to the drums of war. Just like 2003 when the drums beat "IRAQ." I am totally against intervention in Syria. It seems our government has already sided with the revolt and its Al-Qaeda and terrorist allies and has been sending armaments to them (We sent lots of that to the Afghan rebels who fought against the Soviets in the early 80'sand those armaments ended up in Bin Laden's arsenal, including Stinger shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missiles.)

Let them fight their own battles and wars! Stop playing the Cop of the World and stay out of the Middle East. All it has done is make us many new enemies and dug so many US soldiers, sailors and airmen's graves.

I don't blame or fault Russia for opposing our pompous threats of intervention. Look what they got into in Afghanistan in the 1980's before they ran home with their tail between their legs!

We have more problems here at home than it seems possible to handle. Let's tackle OUR problems, not Syria's.
The warmongers are once again screaming at the Arabs. They want us to intervene in another country's civil war. Don't buy their B.S. for a moment. It will be YOUR sons and daughters they will shovel into combat, not theirs.

The best way to fight Fascism and war-lovers is to go subversive. If you publicly radicalize and shout and do things like protest and holler you will be marginalized by the authorities. Instead, go subversive. Go quiet publicly but do everything you can, EVEN IF IT IS ILLEGAL - but not violent, to fight.

Resist these f**kers! Stay active but behind the scenes. If you work for the government, leak! Be a whistleblower! If you don't, find a way to fight.

It used to be said "War is good for business and the economy." This is no longer true. The adventurist conflicts in Iraq and the continuation of the long war in Afghanistan have cost the economy dearly. The US spent trillions of non-recoverable dollars on those wasted affairs. We have a national debt of over 16 trillion dollars now! Would you dump another trillion on Syria?

By the way, Syria is Russia's last remaining ally in the Middle East-Mediterranean region. They WILL come to Syria's aid if we intervene. Then you have a much, much larger war on your hands.

By far the majority of US citizens are NOT behind any kind of attack on Syria or anybody else in the region. Two polls are already out. I think that politically, this is going to be really really bad for the President. Serves him right.

However the latest reason for intervention is the very real chemical war waged against civilians. It's not an easy choice.

As the Bob Dylan song went, '...the masters of war...' are in charge of us again, just like Afghanistan and Iraq, which more than doubled the national debt. And war is good for business, they say. It is so good that they make us invest our young men and women in it.

totally agree with you Jon, owing to the ANZUS treaty Australia gets mixed into the fight as well , the other thing that concerns me is that chemical warfare has been used
Imagine New York after an attack, then there is the last time chemicals were used by the Iraqis on the Kurds wiping out a village , there was not much said then , Hussein was a goodie then though

I would feel good about Australia refusing to honor such a wrong-headed alliance.

Same here.We do not need to get involve that we have lost so many mean in the Iraq war..They need to take care of our people and lot of people out there need help. Why should we get involve there?

Jon, we are so antiwar for every reason. Every word of this blog is true.
We have so much poverty and corporate greed here and we need to fix
ourselves not intervene in other struggles.

It's just nuts. Our government hasn't listened to us in anything else, and they won't start now - if the Washington lobbyists want war (and you know they do), there will be war.

I will not vote for any politician who votes YES on a resolution to strike Syria.
