One good thing about the continuous coverage (over a month now) of the Jodi Arias case is that it knocked Lance Armstrong right off the front page.
Around here the case that is on page one is the Steubenville teenage rape case. Steubenville is in the eastern part of Ohio right on the Ohio River. It is one of those steel ghost towns, with empty factories and run-down so far as jobs and prosperity go. But the people who live there are big supporters of their high school football team.
It was members of that team who partied drunk with an underage girl from across the river (from West Virginia), got her inebriated and had sexual contact and intercourse with her, if you want to stretch the word so that 'intercourse' is what happens when you rape a girl.
They even took photos and iPhone movies of the acts and posted them around to friends. Of course, in this age, anything on the web gets spread like a virus and the movie and the photos went viral.
Case closed. Visual proof, right?
So far as I am concerned, yes, but not so fast! The defense claimed the girl was at fault - BECAUSE SHE WAS DRUNK!
Gimmeabreak.
Anyway, many people in Steubenville came to the boys' defense, saying that since they were members of their holy football team they were different and should just be scolded and sent to their rooms.
What in the world is going on here?
Are we a super stupid reality show?
