RINNY RINPOCHE May 14, 2011

QUINCY BABYFACE May 14, 2011

..........

I have never seen it rain so hard for such an extended period of time. I won't tell how many times I had to cruise through foot-deep flowing water to get home after I was at my Mom's. I left a window open up in the studio and had 1/2 inch of water on the floor. Took four bath towels to soak it up. Had to change clothes because I got soaked in the 120-foot dash to the back door, through a lake of rainwater runoff from the roof.

Flash flood warnings here. I think we got 2 to 3 inches of rain in about 45 minutes. Constant thunder and lightning for an hour.

Every cat in town must think I am their savior. They keep knocking.

After just less than an inch of rain fell, plus a miserable Sun(less)day, old Sol is out on this Monday morning. Too cold for golf, I ask?

Great cat pix. Sorry about the rain. You can't afford to leave the house, it would seem, without closing all windows. Our rainy season just getting under way. I don't mind it because most of the time part of the day is dry. Wish I had a digital camera so I could more easily post pix. As it is, I have to finish a roll (I'm slow) and then take it to CVS to develop.

I do usually shut the windows. There are only two that I ever open, mostly for the kitties. It is early in the 'open window' season and I forgot.

The rain hasn't nailed us yet in T-town, but it looks like it will anytime now....

I watched (last nite) the PBS thing on WGTE about the Toledo Museum and the glass industry. In the parts about the Glass Museum they showed and interviewed several artists who work there. I went to art school @ BGSU with Jack Smith, and Fritzie was an acquaintance during our glass classes there (that we inaugurated in 1965-660. I took classes from Dominic Labino, famous glass artist from Toledo. I couldn't believe I was seeing and hearing about those guys! Got teary-eyed!

Oh my goodness. I was just looking at the weather in southern Illinois where my cousins live, rain, rain, but a weather forecast website isn't nearly as good as having a weather spotter there in Ohio. Folks pray for rain, but I'll send some good thoughts your way for it to stop. Hugs to those cats. Quincy really does have a baby face, and not in a kitten way.

Have to be very quick and careful petting Q. He bites and he claws. I bought a new box of Bandages.

I think that is what we are supposed to get tomorrow. I guess we need the rain but I don't want a total washout of the whole day!

I think most of it fell here!

That's not good with the Mississippi River already flooding.
comment by timetraveler on May 14, 2011 1:50 PM ()
That good to know. Unfortunately, we have had heavy rains in Oklahoma and Texas as well and all our water flows to the Mississippi.
reply by timetraveler on May 14, 2011 2:34 PM ()
We don't feed the Mississippi. Our water goes north to Lake Erie and out to the Atlantic.
