Boycott Bp ...

BP means "Beyond Pity." I hear that a few of their gasoline stations are closing due to hardly any business at all. I think the boycott and guilt are combining. I would really feel guilty if I spent a dollar at BP, and I DO know that in most cases the stations are owned by local business people. Makes no difference to me.

If they claim bankruptcy, what will 10 cents on the dollar mean to the residents of the Gulf Coast?

My brother told me something the other day that was really alarming. He said that in the last few years BP had over a hundred safety violations for which it was fined while the other Big Four oil companies COMBINED had less than ten for the same period. I think the officers of BP should be held criminally liable for those eleven workers who lost their lives.

The 5 actions re: Deepwater Horizon that Congress was asking BP about (and got no answers) were breathtaking in their criminal neglect and blindness. It's almost exactly like the actions the big banks and investment houses took bundling mortgages which were about to default any day but pretending they weren't. We all know that worst scenarios never happen!!! ha ha!

The redress should not start at the bottom but at the top. Jail time (how about prosecution for wrongful death?) for top execs works for me. If the consequences for unsafe practices are bad enough, they will stop.

And seize BP's assets in the US to pay for the mess they made. I will settle for that. Nothing less.

Sadly it won't help the oil spill--it will only put a neighbor and his employees out of business and a job to go on unemployment and food stamps affecting his family and not affecting BP

Martin: I understand your sensitivity to this, but I consider the grief you mention expanded thousands of times in the Gulf region. There are eight thousand fishermen out of work. There are over twenty thousand small businesses in need of assistance due to the beach, tourism and fishing shutdowns. I want to either nationalize BP's operations and sell them off to pay for the cleanup, or to see BP driven from the face of the earth. They have criminalized their company by lying, deferring and trying to scapegoat others. They have no rights in my book.
