My poor mother feels terrible about something that is so totally not her fault. About 50 minutes before the wedding was to start, she was leaving the women's restroom when she accidentally got her left pinky finger stuck in the hinge side of the restroom door. As the door is heavy and has a heavy duty spring on the hinge, the end of her pinky finger was smashed almost beyond recognition. In her panic to free her finger, I think she damged it even further. When we finally got the door open again and her finger removed from the jam, it was bleeding and I really think she was going into shock. A great friend of my wife's rushed mom and dad to the emergency room after she called the doctor she knows personally, advising him of the situation. He promised to do everything within his power to get her back as soon as possible. She returned to the church at 11:50, only fifty minutes after the wedding was to start. Of course we waited on her. She's my mother. She's worth it. Everything went forward as planned and we didn't miss our flight from Baltimore to San Antonio.
So many good things have happened to us on this trip, we cannot let the mishaps taint the atmosphere.
I'll call mom in a few minutes and find out how she's doing. Poor thing. She kept saying how stupid she was and we tried to tell her it wasn't her fault and that everything was fine.
A big kudos to the doctor who was able to attend to her needs in less than two hours. That was very kind and efficient. Mom is supposed to see a specialist on Monday.
AND....to all of you who left comments previously, thank you. If I don't get around to responding to them all, you'll understand. I've been kinda busy lately! ;)
I hope your mom is okay!!!! It sure sounds painful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
