We had forty kids our first night of Kid's Crusade. Now for some of you who attend or used to attend large churches that might not sound like a lot. But for our fledgling church with six children (if you include the babies), forty kids on the first night meant that 36 of them were from the neighborhood.
We had lots of fun. George of the Jungle puppet show. Another couple of puppets put on a show. Songs, games, contests, etc.
Forty kids!! I can't get over it. If word of mouth works like it usually does, we'll be at least double that on Friday. I'm not counting any eggs until they hatch.
We're giving away four scooters and a host of other prizes. Everyone goes away with something and all of them get an ice cream sandwich or similar ice cream treat to eat on the way home.
On the downside, our air conditioners aren't keeping up in this heat. Fortunately, we'll be having insulation blown in sometime this week or next. I'm told it will make a world of difference. It was 82 degrees in there tonight and they had been running since 9am. I can't believe the other people who occupied the building so many years before we did never installed insulation??
There was a house fire just a few blocks from the church this morning. There were helicopters and fire trucks and news crews all over the place. I'm sure Jeri and Ted saw it on the news today.
PS: Randy, I got my mole yesterday!
