Record Breaking Night

We had forty kids our first night of Kid's Crusade. Now for some of you who attend or used to attend large churches that might not sound like a lot. But for our fledgling church with six children (if you include the babies), forty kids on the first night meant that 36 of them were from the neighborhood.
We had lots of fun. George of the Jungle puppet show. Another couple of puppets put on a show. Songs, games, contests, etc.
Forty kids!! I can't get over it. If word of mouth works like it usually does, we'll be at least double that on Friday. I'm not counting any eggs until they hatch.
We're giving away four scooters and a host of other prizes. Everyone goes away with something and all of them get an ice cream sandwich or similar ice cream treat to eat on the way home.
On the downside, our air conditioners aren't keeping up in this heat. Fortunately, we'll be having insulation blown in sometime this week or next. I'm told it will make a world of difference. It was 82 degrees in there tonight and they had been running since 9am. I can't believe the other people who occupied the building so many years before we did never installed insulation??
There was a house fire just a few blocks from the church this morning. There were helicopters and fire trucks and news crews all over the place. I'm sure Jeri and Ted saw it on the news today.
PS: Randy, I got my mole yesterday!

That's a misconception about South Florida--yes, it gets hot but very seldom, if ever, over 95 degrees--humidity is high but people go from an air conditioned home to an a/c car to an a/c job to an a/c restaurant or movie-- people know to wear/carry a sweater with them in the summertime if they are going to be indoors--I lived down here in the 50s before a/c was around and we survived very nicely--only thing i complain about is you can't dive into the ocean to cool off--the water is hotter than the air!!!

Don't you just love having kids around? All that exuberance and silliness.

And one can learn so much from them!

Now you have to get the parents to follow along!!

We can't complain down here--in the 80s in June is pretty good plus we are getting a lot of wind, not that much rain, from Debby which helps.

I've always imagined Florida as being hotter than almost anywhere else. It isn't?

It was so hot yesterday that I burned up watering. My roses literally cooked
on their bushes....l05 by the bank thermometer.

You don't water in the heat of the day, do you? I hear it's hard on the plants, but then again I hear a lot of things.

its been in the 90's here in Cow Snot for days. everyone is complaining and wishing for winter. not me. I'd rather have hot than cold any day.

I can only imagine those hard summer months. This heat is oppressive. Blessings on the man who invented air conditioning!
