Ha, I'm helping my dad fix up one of his rental properties. We call him the slum lord of Choctaw. This one is actually in OKC. Talk about a nasty mess. I don't see how some people live the way they do. This house stinks and is in terrible shape. Bathroom, utility room and kitchen floors are rotted out. Major painting and cleaning needed. The cabinets were a bust. We tore them out today and destroyed them. This is going to take a while. The neighborhood isn't great either. Jenn and I were thinking about living there until we got settled into a place of our own, but there are two VERY creepy neighbors who would scare Jenn silly.
We tore out the bathroom floor and the kitchen cabinets and replaced the door handles and deadbolts on the front and back doors today. My helper (or am I his helper?) had to quit at 1:30, so we didn't get much done. We started at 11a.
This promises to be about a two week project, I think. Dad's paying me. For now, I have a job! I'll be looking into some translating service jobs soon. It's something I do well and I'm a people person. I wouldn't mind doing something with computers either. I'm a quick learner when it comes to that.
To answer someone's question from a previous post, I probably will eventually take up some kind of ministry position somewhere, but frankly, I'm not getting in any hurry. We want to have this baby and get re-acclimated to the culture and way of life here. It's culture shock all over again.
We kinda gave it away just to get rid of it. I told my husband that I had cleaned it for the last time. And I meant it.
