Interview

The job interview went well. The job is mine if I want it, but it's not much more than an entry-level job for recently graduated high school seniors. I really can't believe they went to the trouble of an interview for such a low paying job. The bright side is that the benefits are exceptional. Overall, the entire package is probably equal to what I make working with my dad moving storage buildings.
On that subject, it is hot work in the summer. The hours are erratic and often brutal. Some days there's no work at all. For example, yesterday I left our house at 6:30am and didn't return until 9:30pm. The upside is that working with Dad offers me the flexibility of working, or not, when I want to. However, no benefits, no paid vacation, no withholding.
I'm on the fence about what to do. Both options have advantages and disadvantages.

Take it sweetie. Health insurance is invaluable and cream always rises to
the top...they will recognize your worth. Besides the hours could not be
worse with your Dad.

I'm really leaning that way. See you soon.

No withholding working for your dad? Will that come back to bite you at retirement age if you don't have enough creditable work hours (or whatever they call it) to qualify for social security benefits? I know, it probably won't be around, but one can never tell. I think you should take the job for the benefits, but it's also nice to have the flexibility you have now.

I still pay Social Security, so I suppose I'll get it back in the end. A statement comes in the mail every year indicating how much I would make at certain ages.

Sorry. Can't help you make that decision. Tough call. Good luck.

Take it--you can always quit--you might see a way up the ladder faster--and benefits, these days, are not easy to come by!

JOBS are hard to come by! Benefits only make it that much better. I'm surprised at how difficult it has been to actually get an interview. Maybe I'm missing something.
