I had an early hospital appointment today with my son. We had to be at the hospital for 8.30. The hospital is 30 miles away which meant that we would really need to be away from the house just after 7 to avoid traffic snarl-ups etc. I hate being late for things and always think it is better to be there waiting than bustin' a gaskit to get there on time!
Due to the early start my eldest son was staying at his Gran's so that he could still get to nursery today also I figured that getting two sleepy children ready to leave on time was a tough enough task without adding another one to the mix.
DH's alarm went off at 6.15, already I was wishing I had gotten up earlier - I had no time to shower, just enough to grab a coffee as I was making the baby's breakfast and trying to encourage my sleepy son to eat a little. I resorted to packing banana sandwiches and milk to eat when we got there!
We got there in plenty of time, the kids ate a little and then we headed to the shop for some sweets to help keep my son distracted when he was getting plaster casts made of his feet.
Both feet had to be done which meant double the stress - the sweets didn't help any! Lots of tears and kicking. This meant that one of the casts failed so it had to be done again! Wonderful!
The splints that he will have made from the casts will be ready in a couple of weeks. But, the clinic is so busy and our consultant doesn't want him to have to wait too long for them we have to be fitted into an early time slot again. Oh the joys.
I now have 2 weeks to prepare for "Operation Early Start ........ The Second Installment" .
