I am such a nutter!! Why in the heck did I invite the out-laws for Christmas?! I can see me seriously falling out with MIL before the big day if she carries on with her snippy little comments!
Like, on Saturday, we were down there for brunch and I suggested a possible eating schedule to her so that I will have a chance to tidy a little before the sweet course.
My suggestion was Soup, starter and main. A break for presents and a quick tidy up then sweet, cheese and coffee. She snipped, what's a soup-starter?  DOH!! I said soup then a starter, obviously! Her reply was what, you have a hot soup then a cold starter? what's wrong with that? Is that not the done thing? Even if it isn't I am going to do it any way just to P the witch off.
She then went on to the topic of my BIL. He was wondering when we were eating as he would need to get my 2 YO niece home to bed. Do you think they would consider us if it was to be held at there house....I think NOT!! Bastids.
I have no problems with cooking, besides I AM a better cook than my MIL anyway. She was not pleased when DH told her years back that my mince n tatties were way better than hers!! LOL She was nippy about that for a good while. She claims she doesn't hold a grudge! Yeah right.
She did give me some vouchers towards the food though. Which was nice of her, but she made this big thing about saving for Christmas so that she could get the vouchers. Well, when I read the vouchers she got them for having her home insurance through the supermarket - lying biatch hadn't saved feck all. DH's Gran then called to see if she could help or buy anything. It was decided she'd just give money too - £40 - big help WTG Gran, TY. When MIL found out she snipped about how she was never offered anything! Boo frickin' hoo - she isn't very nice to DH's Gran anyway so that might have something to do with it.
Also, on Saturday MIL was getting the kids to help decorate her tree - man does it look like it has been in an RTA! She's happy - there's a first. Anyway, she found wrapping paper and offered it to me, it was a massive roll and I had some big gifts to wrap so I said I'd take it. The comment was - Do you say no to nothing!! WTF is that meant to mean? If you offer something don't than moan beacuse it is accepted.
Wish me luck for the big day - might have to haugh in her soup.
Any tips on the proper order of courses would be appreciated - or does it really not matter as long as it is tasty and you have family around?
Have a great time over the festive period, just incase I don't have time to blog again until the new year.
